My name is Michelle, welcome to my website.

I created It’s just a feeling twenty-three years ago, in order to help other people to understand anxiety and panic symptoms, during my own journey of not being able to understand mine.

Nowadays, the internet is alive with suggestions as to how to deal with your anxious feelings, but back in those days there was pretty much nothing, which made my own experience even more frightening.  

I remember really needing to work this out in a way in which I could find a sense of relief, but at the same time, I felt a strong purpose to use what I was learning to support others through their own journey with panicky or anxious feelings, while also understanding how to maintain their sense of wellbeing in years to come.

Myself, the website and My Fear Monster have all evolved hugely over the resulting 23 years. This length of time has been so important to bringing me to the point that I am now. 

Using a combination of this website, My Fear Monster who is directly reflecting ALL (yes, all) of my 23-year journey, along with some exciting further developments regarding the direction that it’s just a feeling is taking, I would like to show you how.

Welcome once again, come and join me as we tackle this time of emotional difficulty together.

Supporting others became really important to me after I suffered severe anxiety and panic myself. I struggled to find the answers I needed to help me to make sense of what was happening to me.

It's just a feeling

As someone who has a personal history with anxious feelings and as a professional who is passionate about helping others find their strength to work with their own difficulties, I feel the content I wish to reflect on this website continues to evolve as I do and it is important to share this with you.

I had a difficult journey, but each day brought learning and now I am not ashamed to stand up and say that I do have a thought on how to work with anxiety to achieve lasting change and that I believe to work effectively to reduce your fears, means working with both the surface wave of the ocean and the current which drives the surface wave which means to understand your individuality within this, whilst working with the habits and physical feelings that seem common experiences with others.

One without the other, is like salt without pepper or dark without light in my opinion.
You don’t have a problem; this is a learned reaction to an emotion so we need to deal with both the emotion that is causing the difficulty for us and our reactions to it which drive us to instinctively protect ourselves from the feeling.

For the above reasons the website has evolved to incorporate information that enables us to both work with our inner ‘currents’ – our drivers and the ‘surface wave’ that represents the surface wave behaviour.

1. The ‘What is happening to you’ section of this website which will help you to understand more about anxiety and panic as symptoms and how they may manifest in you.

2. The Fear Monster® Concept Workshop which will help you to understand how the Fear Monster® manifests as this feeling and what it means for the habitual behavioural cycle.

Client Workshops

Fear Monster® Client Workshops are available as a pre-recorded course to purchase directly and to work through in your own time.

It is designed to help you to start to consider both aspects of yourself and unconscious behavioural patterns which help to strengthen your anxious feelings, and to consider a different perspective and the possibility of approaching these feelings in a different way, a way in which works at the root.

The Fear Monster®
CPD Workshops

Fear Monster® Continuous Professional Development Workshops are available to professional Therapists who can register to attend an online or in person event.

The course is equivalent to six hours of CPD and I aim within it to support you in your work with client’s whom present with anxiety and challenge you to reflect on different perspectives relating to how as practitioners we understand anxious feelings.

I am passionate to provide reflection on a possible client experience and the considerations we need to account for when providing the most suitable intervention.

Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I am available to book for public speaking events. I am happy to share my journey.

I am a speaker; trainer and I facilitate workshops. I am passionate about delivering honest and impactful insight into understanding anxiety and panic disorders. I am happy to speak at larger or smaller events for the purpose of educating others about anxiety.

CPD for Therapists

I’m pleased to offer Continual Professional Development for Therapists who wish use my Fear Monster concept when working with their clients.

This valuable learning course is equivalent to 6 hours of CPD.

Courses are delivered online to just 6 Practitioners at any one time.

Corporate Stress Management

What I don’t do is provide a text book explanation of stress and ‘generalised’ coping strategies.

What I do hope to provide is an insightful, tailored and very real perspective. A perspective where I hope to encourage individuality, insight, personal application and empowerment within the workplace that will create awareness and management of stress while promoting ways to establish a positive approach to mental health and wellbeing.

I’m Michelle. My passion is to create and then continuously develop this website originated from my own experiences of Anxiety and Panic symptoms and my difficulty in accessing and finding the information that I needed in order to make sense of what was happening to me.
